Información sobre turismo rural en Hornachuelos

The Natural Park of Hornachuelos is located in the western sector of the province of Cordoba. Forms part, together with the Natural Park of the Sierra Norte and Aracena and Picos de Aroche, of a protected strip that sits in Sierra Morena, so called because of the dark color of the slate, abundant in the area. It is irrigated by the river Bembézar, by the Guadiato and by the Retortillo. With a surface area of 67,202 hectares is the largest Natural Park in the province of Cordoba, includes part of the municipalities of Almodóvar del Río, Cordoba, Hornachuelos, Posadas and Villaviciosa. The heights will include between 250 and 750 meters.

Restaurantes

The gastronomy of the area is represented mainly by the dishes based on the hunting as the stew of venison, wild boar, as well as the rabbit broth. We must not forget the white wine of the region, which is made in bodegas, or its variant called Vino de Balsa. Other typical dishes of the area are emborrizado, sparrows or sauce of thistles.

Sitios de interes

In the National Park of Hornachuelos the banks of he rivers are framed by large masses of forest composed in its majority by aspen, alder and ash trees. The vegetation contains typical Mediterranean species such as pine trees, holm oaks, cork or gall in the more humid areas and the "acebuche" near the plains of the River Guadalquivir. The coppice is populated by rockrose and noble species of scrub as lentiscus, myrtle and arbutus. In terms of fauna it welcomes the second colony of black vultures in Andalusia and three more colonies of griffon vultures. Nests of different types of eagle have been located in the area.The reservoir of Bembézar and the "Coto de las Aljabaras" are other enclaves to be taken into account for it´s unique beauty.
