The natural park of Sierras Subbeticas is located in the south of the andalusian province of Cordoba, in the mountains with their same name. It cover 8 villages: Cabra, Carcabuey, Do?a Mencia, Iznajar, Priego de Cordoba, Rute, Luque and Zuheros. Its limit to the north are the Sierra Morena mountains and in the south to the Sistema Betico. It is a protected area by the Junta de Andalucia from 1988 and it has 1.568 H. In this park, the natural shapes of the limestone on the materials of these mountains made of it the most attractive thing in the area. It is an area with high climbs and elevations with great valleys. The beauty of the area join to the cultural values of their villages made of this natural space an spectacular place in Andalucia.
The gastronomy on the area is a mixture of different cultures.The gastronomy in the Sierras Subbeticas is based on the products of the matanza.It is combine of country products meats and fishes. They mix the haunted animals joined to the vegetables of the sierra subbetica and appear the oil as a based in all the receipts, giving the taste to all the dishes. Main courses of this area are papas al ajopollo, gachas de cuscurrones, porra de esparragos and sweets as panecillos de cortijo, roscos de anis and mantecados.
The lime Stone of the area are one os their atractive things. The area is full of mountains up to 1500 m, deep and narrow valleys and big slopes. It is possible to see the Cerro de la Ermita. The vegetation are holm oaks and the quejigos, although there are maple trees and almeces. There a nice variety of flores asiris, daffodil, the peonias or the orquideas. Among the landscape, we can enhace Sierra de Cabra that was declared Paraje de Interes Cultural. The animals in the area are foxes, kestrel, rabbits and currucas. The village in the mountain areas take us to a world where the culture and nature are the main protagonist.
