Geographic area located in the northeast of Granada, between Almeria, Jaen and Murcia. It contains three different areas Guadix y Marquesado, Baza y Huescar. It is located in a plane area at 1.000 m of high. It central part it is an almost deserted plane, surrounded by the mountains of Sagra, Castril, Baza and Orce. The Granada¿s Altiplano enjoy a great natural value and a great scenery which includes the Natural park of Sierra de Castril, the Sierra of Baza, the Sierra of Sagra and the nearby of P.N. de Sierra Nevada. All over the region there are plenty of small rivers, and huge ones as well as tributaries Verde river, Bravatas, Guadiana menor, Cullar and Fardes are some of them. There are three reseroirs which provides waterto the region, El Negretin, San Clemente and del Portillo. It is located 48 km from Diezma to Granada, 132 km to Murcia from Puebla of Don Fabrique, 72 km to Cazorla from Cuevas of Campo and 91 km to Almeria from Hueneja.

The gastronomy in the region is given by its tradition, Arabic and products given by the land. Among them we can point out the pork and all his products derivation, as well as, in the mountain areas from haunting. The cultivars areas offer us a rich variety of fruits and vegetables from which we can admire the nice peach. As well as its special wine done just for the local consume. As an example the areas of Baza and Huescar offers us a beautiful contrast of lands, cultivated lands surrounded by extensions of deserted lands that are located in its central area. Aside Guadix andl Marquesado areas, offer us a red land of la Hoya de Guadix with the green of the valleys next to the rivers of Sierra Nevada. This is why these lands are considered as a natural and protected area because of its huge natural value as the Band-lands or protected areas as: P. N. de Sierra Nevada, la Sierra de Baza and the la Sierra de Castril. This is why these area is highly appreciated by people that like to do open air sports as trekking, open fly, climbing and mountain bike. Or water sports in their lakes: Negretin.
